Juror's Statement

In selecting this show and granting awards, I felt strongly that I should reflect a spirit of diversity.Under this broad guideline, I applied four C's as selection criteria: composition, craftsmanship,
content, and creativity.
Composition and craftsmanship can be judged objectively, while content and creativity are elusive elements that are open to subjective and intuitive evaluation. For this reason a different juror might have selected a different show. The paintings that are not included in this show may very well receive high awards in other exhibitions.
Overall I looked to identify works that evoked or expressed intellectual inventiveness, imaginative power, esthetic impact, psychological insight, metaphorical intent, spiritual quality, and pioneering spirit which contribute to anartist's unique vision.
