The work that I have selected for the 27th International WAS-H Exhibition is very diverse in terms ofsubject matter, paint handling, and expression. It is a strong and beautiful show. I wish to congratulate each artist that has been included.
Art, by its nature, is a very personal thing. There is not an absolute right or wrong or a formula in the making of a painting. That is what is so exciting about the act of making art. Every work takes its own path and has its own unique journey. When the paint, brush, paper, hand, mind and eye all merge and flow together, the image seems to come effortlessly and paint itself. Those special times are when we are most deeply connected with our inner being and these certain paintings will most assuredly demonstrate our uniqueness.
Beyond color, composition, technique and the arrangement of the various elements of design, I look for the artist's uniqueness of vision when jurying a show. This deals not with the subject matter but with an individual energy and mark and the way it is put down with paint on paper. Many of the paintings in this exhibition have this personal nature. I wish to thank WAS-H for inviting me to be a part of this special exhibition and wish you all continued success.
