Founded in 1975, the Watercolor Art Society – Houston (WAS-H) is a non-profit organization with over 600 members. For over 35 years, WAS-H has brought the excitement of water-media to the greater Houston area with outstanding exhibitions, world-class instruction and dedicated community outreach. Year-round opportunities are provided to every level of painter, from novice to the seasoned expert. Art lovers can also enjoy year-round exhibitions in our gallery in the Museum District. WAS-H Monthly Membership Exhibitions
are featured at WAS-H's own gallery space, 1601 West Alabama in Houston's museum district near the Menil Collection. Members have an opportunity to submit work in watermedia each month, offering the community opportunity to view and purchase contemporary art. Hours Tuesday-Saturday 10am- 3pm.

WAS-H Activities
In addition to the Juried Exhibitions above, WAS-H has monthly meetings with demonstrations by known artists. Classes and Workshops all year. Group painting encounters include Open Studio afternoons, Wednesday Life Figure Lab, Paint-Outs and Paint-Ins, an Outreach Program for volunteers to work with children.

Gallery Policy
The WAS-H Gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday, 10-3. With Board of Directors approval, members may rent the Gallery for private exhibitions.Rental rates vary with space that is rented. Please call the WAS-H office for reservation and rates. Scheduled WAS-h activities and classes take precedence over other meetings. Publicity will be provided in the Washrag and media contacts at a charge. All policies are subject to change by action of the Board.
