Hillstream

Sam Caldwell's coastal scenes of waterfowl and gamefish are prized by collectors from Texas to Maine.

Working primarily in transparent watercolor, the Houston native seeks to capture the atmosphere of the moment, as well as the color and drama inherent in his outdoor subjects.

He is proud that the American Red Cross recently chose one of his paintings to help provide funds for 9-11 relief.

Caldwell is also well known as an outdoor writer. His co-authored book for the CCA, Change of Tides, A Narrative History of the Coastal Conservation Association, was named Texas' best outdoor book for 2000.

Caldwell's paintings and prints can be seen at many top galleries, but he represents his own work. He spends painting time in the outdoors, as well as studios in Humble, Splendora and Houston, Texas.
