We have 35 beautiful new paintings gracing the walls of the gallery,
in addition to an exhibit of the work of our WAS-H instructors.

Our 2011 Fall and 2012 Spring instructors will be honored and introduced at the reception. The Instructors art and bios will be displayed.

Juror: James Busby was born in Jacksonville, Texas. His artistic inheritance includes early experiences in nature and French Impressionism and some of its equivalents in the twentieth century. He earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s and a Doctorate of Fine Arts and is Art Department Chairman Emeritus at Houston Baptist University and has paintings in galleries throughout the United States.

(Paintings can be brought in before Saturday.)

Juror: Polly Hammett has received over 100 awards and has paintings in permanent collections of the Albuquerque and Oklahoma Art museums. She serves as juror, lectures, and teaches classes across the United States and Canada and is listed in Who’s Who in American Art.

Juror: Nell Bednarz studied wildlife and photography while earning a degree in agronomy at Texas Tech, so it is no surprise that her work in many different mediums has been nature inspired. Photography, colored pencils, pen and ink, and pastels were her preferred media early in her career. She also paints with acrylics and work on scratchboard. She currently participates in local and international exhibitions and teaches private lessons..

Monthly Membership Shows
are featured at WAS-H's own gallery space, 1601 West Alabama in Houston's museum district near the Menil Collection. Members have an opportunity to submit work in watermedia each month, offering the community opportunity to view and purchase contemporary art. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10am to 3pm.
General information:
Saturday take-in 10am to 1pm.
Evening receptions 6 – 8pm.
Pickup prior monthly show artwork during the Saturday take-in.

Regular Show Guidelines
Eligibility and Requirements:
A
rtist must be a current WAS-H member.
Up to 3 entries per artist
Fee of $10 per entry
Artwork Regulations:
Original composition.
Completed in the last 24 months
Not painted under supervision or in a class.
At least 80% watermedia
At least 80% watermedia
Surfaces: Paper, Yupo, or Claybord only.
Has not won a WAS-H award previously

Framing Regulations:
Width of frame not to exceed 1 ½ inches

Plain wood or metal frames. Simple grooves only.
Nothing ornate, no etching.
Mats – White mats and liners (if using liner).
Sample mats of acceptable white
values will be available.
Plexiglas ONLY
Claybord with protective coating.

Hanging wire only, no saw-tooth hangers.

Experimental Guidelines

Liability: WAS-H will not be liable for damage before, during or after the exhibit. Wash has the right to reject any painting not following these guidelines. These are standard guidelines for the regular monthly shows and will be included in each prospectus.
