Artist Talk: Ed Pettitt

  • August 01, 2019
  • 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • 1601 W. Alabama St.

Join local artist and WAS-H teacher, Ed Pettitt, for his Artist Talk at WAS-H Gallery, Thursday August 1, from 6pm - 7pm.

This event is free and open to the public.

After pursuing studio art in high school, Ed Pettitt’s focus shifted to biomedical science in college, prompting him to join the Peace Corps to develop HIV/AIDS treatment programs in southern Africa. Ed moved to Houston in 2011 to complete his Master of Public Health degree, which focused on ethnographic methods, including participant observation and field sketching. After completing his MPH, Ed pursued his interests in ethnography, urban development, and documentary reportage in the form of urban sketching, specifically urban watercolor sketching. For Ed, urban watercolor sketching is more than just aesthetics, it's a way to process, critique, and engage the changing urban landscape. Ed is passionate about the medium of watercolor as a way to capture the drama and emotion of life as it flows around us.

Parking on site or surrounding streets. Please do not park at The Menil parking lot.
