This beginner class provides students with a solid foundation in materials, techniques, color mixing, composition, and design. Working with each individual, Joanie gives confidence and shares the forgiving nature of watercolor. There will be painting exercises and demonstrations of each day’s painting. Beginner level.

BEGINNER WATERCOLOR SUPPLY LIST Joanie Hughes
Available at Texas Art Supply, Art Supply on Main, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s Craft Store
One 22x30” sheet (full sheet) Arches or Fabriano Cold Press 140 lb. watercolor paper
Paint- (small tubes (5ml)
Winsor Yellow, Winsor Red , & Winsor Blue (green shade) by Winsor-Newton
Palette (Steve Quiller plastic round palette preferred) – temporary plastic plate provided. You may want to wait unit the second class to purchase a palette.
Slant brush 3/4 or 5/8 Simple Simmons @ Texas Art $2.35 (if none available ask at desk and they will bring it down from the warehouse supply)
White Artist tape ½” or 1” Pro Artist Tape @ Texas Art Supply
Kneaded Eraser (rectangle/square shape)
Sharpened Pencils – HB - prefer Faber-Castell or any lead pencil
Box of white tissues and roll of white paper towels (household types)
Spray bottle (medium size, fine spray) @ Target etc
Small kitchen sponge (to wipe brush)
Waterproof support/board to tape painting on – Plexiglas or plastic coated sign - Approximately 16x18” @ Lowes or Hardware Store
Keep receipts in case item may need to be exchanged.
