The most important part about painting with watercolor is understanding the behavior of the pigment and surface.  In this online workshop, we will explore the watercolor fundamentals and techniques often forgotten or taken for granted, such as understanding the influences of gravity and environment on paint management, and the importance of good timing for varied effects.   This is an excellent course for beginners and experienced painters alike.

• Day 1 – Considerations of Color Theory, Value & Brush Technique

• • Construct simple color wheel and value scale
  • Practicing flat and gradient washes with control and good timing 
  • Project: Simple still-life to study important value relationships

Day 2 – Applicable Effects & Process of Painting (The this, then that.)

• • Practicing layered and dynamic color mixing
  • Learning how to break down a composition into clear steps 
  • Project: Expressive Landscape - bringing it all together

Level: Novice, Beginner, Intermediate
