Gouache Noir: Mastering Value & Drawing

Arthur Deatly

4-Week Class

Wednesday Nights

November 5, 12, 19 & 26

6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$220 Tuition/$180 members

Step into the dramatic world of Noir—where value, shadow, and light tell the story. In this four-week course, you’ll sharpen your drawing skills and explore gouache’s bold, opaque beauty to create artwork with striking depth and atmosphere.

Through still life studies and guided exercises, Arthur will help you:
See and simplify shapes for strong, balanced compositions
Harness value to create mood and visual impact
Use gouache to layer rich tones and luminous highlights

Whether you’re new to gouache or refining your craft, this class will teach you to think—and paint—in light and shadow.

No need to purchase lots of paint!  By using a limited number of colors, you will be able to achieve dramatic values with optimum impact.
